Bernie’s Amazing BATMAN TOYS AND MEMORABILIA Collection!

When I started the Bat-Blog I always knew that the main focus would be about collecting the cool Batman toys & memorabilia. It’s also a place for stories about weird happenings, movie news, information about the TV cartoon, what’s going on in the comic books, etc… but really we’re mostly about the joys of being a bat-collector! So, I was really happy to receive in my e-mail box all these super-excellent photos the other day from a reader named Bernie! He’s been collecting a ton of great bat-items over the years & his collection is a really nice mixture of both brand-new & vintage, with a little bootleg stuff mixed in. I also like how everything is displayed so well. It’s all so neat & organized. Bernie needs to come over to my house & do some arranging for me, ha ha! But all kidding aside he has an extremely excellent collection & I appreciate the time he took for the pictures, they’re very cool! If any other Bat-Blog Readers have a nice display ( or an ugly one ) then please send us some pics. Our e-mail button is ALWAYS on the top right-hand side of this page. Thanks again, Bernie!

RETRO-STYLE BATMAN & ROBIN Desktop Wallpapers

For the Batman Wallpaper graphics this week I thought I would go with a retro theme! The 1st one is a new image drawn by a famous comic book artist named Darwyn Cooke. It’s the classic 1966 Batmobile car (with Batman and Robin) done in a clean, yet simple, black & white style that I really like & hope you enjoy. The next one is an iconic image from the 1970’s. It’s a picture of The Dynamic Duo by Neal Adams & Dick Giordano. OK Kids, always remember: Be sure to visit the Bat-Blog every single week for “Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday”!

Vintage BATMAN AND ROBIN T-SHIRT Family Photo

OK, every now & then I get people asking me, “How long have you been a total Batman Fanatic?” Well, I guess the answer would be “over 40 years”. I mean, I am 45 & have been a HUGE Bat-Fan since the age of 2! Every holiday, when the whole family gets together, they always make fun at how I was totally crazy about Batman as a little kid. My Aunt loves to tell the story about how my Nanny ( her Mother ) made me a Custom Batman Cape & I used to totally live in it, ha ha! Yeah, the story gets kinda old but it’s always nice to hear. Now, regular Bat-Blog Readers might have read about when my Grandmother died recently. It took my Aunt a long time to get the courage to “deal with the house”. Mainly because it was so haunting to go in there & be totally reminded of her. I can completely understand & respect that. It must have been really difficult. Well, she finally got around to going through her things & I told her that Nanny had a photo of me wearing a Batman T-Shirt and, if I could, I would really like to have it. It was an old black & white photo that hung on her bedroom wall, like forever. Well, she said it wasn’t there anymore ( she’s still trying to find it ). But, while going through a drawer she found this one still in the original metal frame. It’s a color photo & I have NEVER seen it before. I really laughed when I saw it. Plus, if you look closely, I’m wearing a bootleg “Batman & Robin” T-Shirt. Now, how cool is that!? I’m also wearing my Grandfather’s military hat he wore during WWII. I loved it & used to wear it all the time.

BATMAN FANS Know How To Party in Brisbane, Australia!!

Awhile back, here at the Bat-Blog, we featured a photo of an awesome BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Custom Bat-Suit Costume made by our friend Paul. He lives in Australia. Well, recently he & a few of his friends went to a convention event in Brisbane, all dressed-up in Batman related Costumes! We have all the major characters covered: Batman, Robin, Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Two-Face, Commissioner James “Jim” Gordon, The Riddler, & one other character who’s name I forget at this moment ( Sorry, is it Anarchy? ). The great thing was they were able to get a few really wonderful photos during this time ( Please be sure to click on these pics for larger, more detailed, versions ). Now if I got the info correct, this 1st photo ( close-up shot ) was taken on the 2nd day & a couple of people changed costumes. But the other 2 pics were shot on the 1st day when they were really goofing around! The shot of them all walking towards you. That is a parody of the opening credits sequence of the JUSTICE LEAGUE cartoon ( imagine them in slow motion, ha ha ). The next one is a really famous parody that everyone should recognize right away. It’s The Beatles ABBEY ROAD Album Cover!! OK, I really love all these costume pics but the homage to The Beatles just totally cracks me up! Ha Ha Ha, it’s so GREAT! I wanna thank Paul for sharing these fun photos with my readers. Thanks Paul, everybody is gonna totally love these. I also wanna send a shout-out to all of your friends who got dressed up…you guys all look great & your costumes are awesome too…even the girl who’s character I can’t remember the name of because I’m totally stupid, ha ha! Oh man, I wish I had some of these for Halloween this year!

Music Video: BATMAN AND ROBIN Comedy Skit with Neil Innes!

Our buddy Kenneth sent us this extremely rare Vintage BBC British Television video showing Neil Innes as Batman doing a Batman-themed comedy skit. Andy Roberts is playing the guitar, dressed as Robin. Now, the name of the show was “Rutland Weekend Television” & was written by Eric Idle. I know everybody would recognize him as one of the main actors in the Monty Python & The Flying Circus TV comedy team …just do a quick search on the Internet & you’ll know who he is! In the mean time, enjoy this super-wacky crazy song called “Boring”. WARNING: You will not be able to get this song out of your head for the rest of the day, ha ha!

Vintage 70’s Photo: Kids Dressed-Up as 1966 Batman, Robin, & The Penguin!

This photo cracks me up every time I see it, ha ha! Plus, the costumes are very impressive. This photo from a Color Slide was sent in by a friend named Ralph & it’s a picture of some Batman-related Costumes his Mother made for Ralph when he was a little kid in 1974 or 1975. The details are insane & of course it’s the 1966 TV Show version of the characters. He said that they used to wear these costumes & make small plays with them. Plus, while doing so, they would photograph each different sequence. Then later, when they projected the slides on the wall ( in correct order ) they sort-of had a Batman movie! Wow! This is really creative & must have been a lot of fun too! I also gotta say that Ralph’s Mom did an incredible job on these costumes…they’re really great! Thanks Ralph for sharing your story & this fun vintage family photo. If any other Bat-Blog Fans have similar experiences then please send us some pics!

BATMAN AND ROBIN # 10 Comic Book Cover Art

Direct from DC Comics here is the finished color artwork for the cover to the new BATMAN AND ROBIN # 10 Comic Book. The artist, Frank Quitely, did an amazing job on it! It shows Robin about to kill Batman. Well, try anyway! I guess Damian is really going insane …again! Personally I think that Dick Grayson needs to teach him some manners, ha ha! ( Click on the above graphic for a larger version ).

Holy Canine Cuisine, Batman!

Well, it looks like Robin, The Boy Wonder, is in the dog food business now. To be more precise, I’m talking about Burt Ward, the actor who played Dick Grayson / Robin in the 1966 TV series. For the last few years Ward & his wife have been running a Large Dog Adoption Service called GENTLE GIANTS. We reported that here before on the Bat-Blog. But the cool thing is that they have now come out with their very own brand of dog food. They named it after the charity, GENTLE GIANTS. They have 2 different sizes for sale: Large is 37 1/2 pounds & $34.99. Medium is 17 1/2 pounds & $19.99. If you would like some more information then be sure to click HERE!
