When I started the Bat-Blog I always knew that the main focus would be about collecting the cool Batman toys & memorabilia. It’s also a place for stories about weird happenings, movie news, information about the TV cartoon, what’s going on in the comic books, etc… but really we’re mostly about the joys of being a bat-collector! So, I was really happy to receive in my e-mail box all these super-excellent photos the other day from a reader named Bernie! He’s been collecting a ton of great bat-items over the years & his collection is a really nice mixture of both brand-new & vintage, with a little bootleg stuff mixed in. I also like how everything is displayed so well. It’s all so neat & organized. Bernie needs to come over to my house & do some arranging for me, ha ha! But all kidding aside he has an extremely excellent collection & I appreciate the time he took for the pictures, they’re very cool! If any other Bat-Blog Readers have a nice display ( or an ugly one ) then please send us some pics. Our e-mail button is ALWAYS on the top right-hand side of this page. Thanks again, Bernie!

Here’s some very interesting photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Leon. He has this life-size manikin to display his extremely well-detailed Batman Costume. Of course, it’s the “Adam West” bat-suit version from the 1966 TV Show. WOW! The costume looks great on this thing, very cool! Thank you Leon for sharing the pics & great job on the manikin too. I have always wanted one of these fully-detailed costumes. But they’re so expensive to put together that I will have to wait, ha ha! ( Yeah, I’m jealous & kinda bitter! )

Our Buddy, John Cimino, who writes an excellent “Toy Collector” Blog called HERO ENVY recently paid tribute to the special 70’s BATMAN COLORFORMS Play Set he has owned since childhood. In his article he shares a very heartwarming story about how he got this toy from his Dad back in 1977 when he was only 4 years old. His Dad had bought it for him on a special trip to Osco Drugs. You can check it out by clicking HERE!

This post is a shout-out to a Friend of ours who has been doing an excellent job on a new Batman Toy Collector Blog called “Batman Extreme”! Now, he’s a Major Batman Fan and he shares a bunch of cool stuff! At the end of this post I’ll share a LINK to it but I gotta warn ya, his site is mostly done in Japanese! But wait, there is plenty of eye-candy to enjoy plus, he does some posts in English. Also, it’s really not that hard to figure out how to navigate the site.
One tip, at the bottom of all his posts there is a “Pagination Area” where you click the numbers “2, 3, 4, etc…” Just click those and you can enjoy the whole site. There is some neat stuff like Tin Toys ( Robots and Batmobile cars ). Plus, a lot of new merchandise. It looks like he might focus on “THE DARK KNIGHT RISES” Movie Action Figures a little bit too. It’s fun, just click HERE!

Our buddy, THE BATFAN, sent us some cool photos the other day of a few rare bat-items from his personal collection. The 1st pic shows a funny BATMAN COOKING APRON that was made around the time of the 1989 Batman movie. I like that it’s the “Comic Book” version with the blue/gray/yellow bat-suit. The funny thing about it is that they made a mask to go with it! I actually remember this thing when it was out. I now wish I would have bought one, it’s pretty cool! The next group of items are really great too. They’re a Set of Batman & Robin Drinking Glasses that were made around 1967!! What makes them extremely hard to find here in the US is that they’re from the Netherlands. Yes, all the way from Holland!! I totally love the retro-style graphics, very beautiful! ( Please click on the photo for a larger, more detailed, picture ). Do you have any obscure super-rare Batman items in your collection? If so, then please shoot us a pic today. Our email is always on the top right-hand side of this page.

OK, as a Major Batman Toy Collector I’m usually obsessed with finding good reference material showing the older vintage toys & items. Scanning through old store catalogs, newspaper ( and comic book ) ads, & wholesale pamplets you can discover a treasure trove of items you have never seen before. Shown up above are 2 great examples. One is an old ad for a Batman Yo-Yo from the 1960’s called the BAT-YO! It was manufactured by the PLAY-MORS Toy Company. It looks like they used some Carmine Infantino-inspired artwork, cool! The next picture is another ad, this one is from an old 60’s comic book ( exact issue unknown ) showing a special “Life-Size Batman poster” you could order…for one dollar, ha ha! Now, I’ve seen the actual poster before & it’s really nice. Sadly, I have not found it for my personal collection just yet but someday IT WILL BE MINE!!

Here’s a wonderful photo of an extremely RARE piece of Vintage Batman merchandise. It’s a 1966 BATMAN Shirt… for a Little Girl. This item was bought off eBay awhile back from our friend Doug, who wrote, “I recently purchased this 1966 Batman Girl’s Summer Shirt on eBay for a song. It is size 3X small cotton shirt with the Joker, Penquin, Batmobile, Batman, and Robin. It also has Gotham City in the background. Please note the Batman Logo is highlighted in pink and other features as well. This is the first one I have ever seen.”
Yes, I have to agree that this is the very first time I have seen this variation. Now, I’ve seen this same graphic used on Baby bibs, Pillows, T-Shirts, etc…but never on a little girl’s outfit & never in the strange hot pink variation, very cool! Thanks to Doug for sharing. So, do YOU have a RARE Batman Collectible you would like to share? I’m talking about a “Museum Piece” you have never seen before. if so, then please shoot the Bat-Blog a photo & send it to us, thanks.
