Blade Runner 2 – some people consider it blasphemy, but Ridley Scott has said it’s on his to-do list. Currently, they have scriptwriter Michael Green (Green Lantern) onboard, which inspires no confidence to begin with. And now, another bit of the ridiculous, poppy-star girl Katy Perry has said that she wants a role in the film.
Before people engage in a collective face-palm, please be aware that no casting is taking place and that Perry is just rattling off her fondest wishes. And what role does she think she can bring her unique talents to, you ask? Well, she wants to reprise Rachel from the original Blade Runner. Or in her own words:
“With films, I hope to win you all over with animation and then do other films. I am really interested in comedy, and I would really love to play Rachael in ‘Blade Runner 2,’ if Ridley would just call!”
Yeah… well, there’s just one major problem with that, Miss Perry. The new flick, if Ridley’s early talk is to be believed, will be only loosely connected to the first one’s story and recurring characters are highly unlikely.
And while Perry may have to face disappointment, the rest of us can all breathe a sigh of relief. At least until we see the script that Mr. Green Lantern has put together…
