THE JOKER: Batman Desktop Wallpaper Backgrounds

It’s Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday again & this time I thought I would go with a Joker Theme. Everybody loves the Joker & I also thought it would be nice to do “something old & something new”. First, the “old”. This graphic was sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader who has really great taste. Why? Well, for one, He enjoys reading the Bat-Blog ( ha ha ) & two, because he loves the old Golden Age era artwork by Dick Sprang. This art shown here was a 2-page spread from some publication featuring Sprang’s awesome style. The Joker is prominently featured in the center so I thought that was enough so that it could pass as “Joker Wallpaper”, right? OK, on to the “new” background. Right now you can’t get any more “new” than the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Video Game. This graphic, showing the Joker’s large evil grin with a picture of the Arkham Asylum building in it, is going to be the cover to the next issue of Playstation Magazine. They have a World Exclusive Story on how the Joker will be a special character you can play only on the Sony Playstation 3 Console.

ART GRAPHIC PAINTING : THE JOKER With German Batman Hand-Puppet

Longtime Readers of the Bat-Blog might remember awhile back we posted 2 Desktop Wallpapers that featured artwork by the Graphic Artist / Painter named Tom Dougherty. One of them was Poison Ivy & the other one was The Penguin. I know you guys remember “The Penguin” one because I got a lot of e-mails about it. He was done to look just like Alfred Hitchcock. It was really cool & people went nuts, ha ha! Actually most readers liked both of them very well. Anyways, Tom just did another piece of art recently with The Joker & it’s amazing! Basically it’s the Joker, looking totally insane, & on his right hand is a Batman Puppet ( Be sure to click on that graphic for a larger, more sharp, version ). The funny thing is, as soon as I saw it, I recognized the hand puppet as being one that was featured here at the Bat-Blog awhile back, ha ha. It’s a “German Bootleg Toy” of Batman and I posted a pic down below to jog people’s memory. Now, once I started to get past the whole “puppet thing” I suddenly realized that this graphic is painted extremely well. The coloring is great! The composition is wonderful. Everything about it is awesome! OK, now if you like this guy’s work then you need to check out his blog because he has a lot of artwork showing there too that’s pretty cool. There’s a LINK BUTTON down below. Plus, I think it’s neat to see what artists are up too. You know, you always have to keep an eye on them…make sure they’re now causing trouble, ha ha! ( Thanks Tom for sending the cool pic ). One last thing, if you click HERE you can see those 2 Poison Ivy & Penguin Desktop Wallpapers I was talking about, they’re beautiful!

BATMAN WALLPAPER: POISON IVY Villain Desktop Backgrounds

For these week’s “Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday” I thought I’d go with a POISON IVY theme. The 1st image is a photo of an original animation cel from Batman: The Animated Series. I have always loved that cartoon & still do. The art direction on that show was top-notch! The 2nd wallpaper is an incredible drawing of Poison Ivy sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader ( & amazing Graphic Artist ) named DC Miller. He really drew this & I think it’s great! She looks more like the comics version than the cartoon series but I love the clean sharp lines & great coloring too. Be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because every week we have feature more backgrounds!!

RETRO-STYLE BATMAN & ROBIN Desktop Wallpapers

For the Batman Wallpaper graphics this week I thought I would go with a retro theme! The 1st one is a new image drawn by a famous comic book artist named Darwyn Cooke. It’s the classic 1966 Batmobile car (with Batman and Robin) done in a clean, yet simple, black & white style that I really like & hope you enjoy. The next one is an iconic image from the 1970’s. It’s a picture of The Dynamic Duo by Neal Adams & Dick Giordano. OK Kids, always remember: Be sure to visit the Bat-Blog every single week for “Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday”!

THE 1966 BAT-BOAT!! Batman Vehicle – Desktop Wallpaper Background

I thought this image would make an extremely cool Desktop Wallpaper! So, please be sure to check it out. It’s the Classic Bat-Boat from the 1966 Batman Movie & TV Series. Here’s what Wikipedia had to say about it:

“The first appearance of the BAT-BOAT was in the 1966 film BATMAN. It was subsequently used in the 1960’s BATMAN TV Series.
I
t was created by Glastron Industries.

Mel Whitley and Robert Hammond designed the Batboat from a Glastron V-174. They added a red flashing beacon, glowing eyes, batzooka hatches, seats for both Batman and Robin at the front of the boat, twin wind screens, a center console, an outdrive jet cover, and an aft to deck cover with a glowing Bat-Signal on the tail fin. Although the boat was powered by a Merc Cruiser Chevrolet V-6 and Attwood Corporation manufactured the hardwire, a water squirter and a jet nozzle were added to make the Batboat look like it was nuclear-powered. It took 31 days to build.

Eventually, a replica was built of the Batboat. When the Batman television show was cancelled, Glastron used the two Batboats for promotions on tours. After much touring, the boats were sold. One boat went to a Glastron dealer who was a Shriner. He used it in various Shriner parades. This Batboat was then moved to the Car Stars museum in Gatlinburg, Tennesee.”

TWO-FACE Batman Villain – Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

This week I thought I would post 2 Batman Desktop Wallpapers that featured just 1 famous super-villain. But, which one? There are so many like: The Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, etc… The list could go on & on for days! But in the end, I sort of randomly picked TWO-FACE. Now, this is not the DARK KNIGHT movie version ( Aaron Eckhart ) but is the evil guy you see in the comic books. OK, well, that one background is a photo of a TWO-FACE Action Figure, but you get the idea! Do you have a favorite villain you would like to see as future wallpapers? A favorite Batman artist? Please send in your requests.

COOL BATMAN Comic Book Art WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS

The focus of this week’s “Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday” is going to be some totally amazing Batman artwork! The 1st background uses some vintage 1960’s comic art from an Italian BATMAN Comic Book Reprint. I’m not quite sure who the original artist was ( Is it Carmine Infantino’s work? ) but it’s just really great! The next one is a lot more modern-looking. This is a detail of a painting done by Joe Jusko for a charity auction at the San Diego Comic Con in 2007. The art is just amazing & has a highly realistic feel about it, very cool! Plus, the FULL MOON backdrop is a really nice touch. Now remember, we post 2 FREE Batman Background every week so if you have a suggestion for a certain character then please drop us a message. Our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this page ( it looks like an envelope ), Thanks!
