You Might be Able to Charge Your Phone with Han Solo

A maker of artistic, collectable USB sticks is on Kickstarter with an attempt to fund the development of a series of smartphone portable spare battery-based chargers shaped like cute little monster and creatures. Interesting, but why report on it here?

Because the company, Mimoco, is known for having one of the widest portfolio of licensed characters for its USB sticks, from DC Comics to Star Wars to Hello Kitty and My Little Pony. The USB memory sticks are called Mimobots, so the planned new chargers are called BatteryBots. And it will start with a series of original characters like Terry Le Bat, but there should be no doubt that Mimoco will try to expand its licenses to cover the BatteryBot devices.

I don’t know about you, but I really want a Green Lantern Kilowog that can charge up my phone – or better yet, an Emperor Palpatine. Unfortunately, the only Mimobot version of him the company had, Darth Sidious, has been retired. Yes, the company regularly retires designs to increase the collectability factor. Fingers crossed that it will bring him back for the BatteryBot.

To be clear, this isn’t a plea to fund the Kickstarter campaign – frankly I don’t know why a successful company with years of product sales under its belt would go to Kickstarter for financing its R&D. Unless it is also licensing the battery tech and needs to raise the extra money above the cost of product design. But either way, I am sure Mimoco will find a way to make this happen, however much it raises under the campaign.

Comic Book News: BATMAN AND ROBIN # 1 Cover Variations

Just a quick post, DC Comics just recently released BATMAN AND ROBIN Number One the other day & so far it seems like a total success. Now, I have not read it yet but all I have been hearing is really great things so that’s cool. One thing I wanted to mention is that this comic book has three different covers to collect. The 1st one photo shows the regular cover. The 2nd one is the variant cover. The 3rd is the special “Sketch Cover”. Personally, I have always hated when comic book companies do this. I mean, they’re just trying to get everybody to buy multiple copies. But I gotta admit that these are pretty cool! Just wondering, has anybody read this thing yet? If so, then please leave a comment down below & let us know what you thought about it, thanks. ( Oh yeah, click on the small photos up above for larger pictures ).

The BastardCast vs. Zombie College Hijinks and the Mystery of the Fox

BastardCast-412-ART

This time on The BastardCast, Jason and Jeremy pull a 180 after watching the new RoboCop trailer, warn you about the first ever GTA related virus that didn’t come from banging a pixelated hooker in a car park, and go back to school to learn about zombie stuff and things.

Also on the show: This Week in OMG/Total BS Star Wars News, another DC writer leaves the nest (and shits in it too), Will Smith gets ready to have a meeting in an airport Ramada about returning to his signature role (WILD WILD WILD WESTER here we come!), and Transformers 4 gets a title that we don’t care about (look forward to our 180 on The Dinobot Holocaust in a future episode.)

More? We can not deny you the news about an internet addiction treatment center (step one is admitting that you have a problem, step two is joining Google +), our sparkling repartee about the next iteration of the Bat suit, or our questions about whether Elizabeth Berkely (Showgirls & Saved by the Bell… we’re just helping you so you don’t have to use IMDB) can successfully undulate on dry land without the aid of Kyle MacLachlan’s magical unicorn penis on Dancing with the Stars?

By the way, If you have to ask, yes, this next story is readymade to make you scratch your head to the point where it leaves scar tissue: a mail room worker tried to take her career to higher ground by claiming to know the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chris Nolan, assuming that Hollywood would give it away… now.

Oh, and here is the that BatFleck Batsuit they talked about… see? They posted the link. GO TEAM!

What the Fox Say? He say re-subscribe to the show on iTunes, there may be a glitch in the system that is conspiring to keep you away from us! He also says that the half life of a meme is less than the amount of time that it takes to.. what were we talking about?

All that and Jeremy Argh Hudson on the lightness of beering during the autumnal treat that is, The BastardCast!

New 2010 VINTAGE DC COMICS Calendar with BATMAN Detective Comics

You might remember, last year, Asgard Press came out with a special 2009 VINTAGE DC SUPER HEROES Calendar. I remember seeing it & thought it was pretty cool! It featured many Golden Age Comic Book Covers of Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel, Flash, Wonder Woman, etc… Well, this year they have a brand-new one called the 2010 VINTAGE DC COMICS Calendar. It’s basically the same thing, but with different artwork. Plus, the general theme with this one is the special 75th Anniversary of the DC Comics company ( DC published their 1st comic book in 1935 ). Plus, I like that DETECTIVE COMICS is on the cover, ha ha! For more info be sure to click HERE!

Latest ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Rumor, is Bryan Cranston Warner Bros’ Pick for Lex Luthor?

cranston_freeze

Ever since the announcement Warner Bros. is working on Batman vs. Superman as their Man of Steel follow-up there have been rumors a-plenty about who’s going to play Batman; but what of the villain? With David S. Goyer’s screenplay in no way finalized we won’t know for sure who the big bad is, but the name everyone’s thinking? Lex Luthor.

Lexcorp was an easter egg splattered all over Man of Steel, basically cementing the bald, business savvy nemesis of Superman would appear sooner than later. And now there’s already a rumor floating around about who’ll play him: Bryan Cranston. All stemming from a supposed scoop scored by Latino Review’s El Mayimbe, check out these teasing tweets,

Actor for Lex is so painfully obvious/on the nose, u wouldn’t believe me even if I told you. Hell, I don’t believe it myself. Take a guess?

- elmayimbe (@elmayimbe) August 8, 2013

FANBOY BLIND ITEM: Which superhot actor finishing final season of hit TV show who also was in 2 films for WB is up for juicy badguy part?

:)

- elmayimbe (@elmayimbe) August 8, 2013

FINAL CLUE FOR Y’ALL FANBOY KNUCKLEHEADS WHO CAN’T TAKE A HINT: This actor played a bad guy (embarrassed that he did) on the POWER RANGERS.

- elmayimbe (@elmayimbe) August 8, 2013

See how it all connects so beautifully? Breaking Bad is about to enter its final season and perhaps Cranston isn’t quite tired of that bald look just yet. And yeah, this all only rumor, but how AMAZING would this be if it comes true?

Oh! And if you were wondering about that Power Rangers clue, Cranston has indeed admitted to voicing Power Rangers’ villains in the past.

But as for the rumor Cranston is our next Luthor, we can only wait and see.
